- Create a realistic butterfly model that can withstand ultra-closeup shots in a week
Butterfly was entirely modeled in 3ds Max and Hair and Fur was done using 3ds Max hair and fur. Texturing was done inside 3D Coat. Then the model was exported in to Maya along with hair and fur as geometry.
The client requested to make each ommatidium of the compact eyes of the butterfly reflect the same image. This was achieved by overlapping all the UV islands of ommatidia on top of each other.
